What is SER?

Corporate social & environmental responsibility (CSER or SER) is about how businesses align their values and practices with the expectations and needs of various stakeholders - not just customers and investors, but also employees, suppliers, communities, special interest groups, and society as a whole.

1990s - now rise of the social responsibility movement

In the early 1990s, U.S. labor and human rights organizations launched the "anti-sweatshop movement" for the apparel and footwear industries. Under pressure from NGOs (labor and human rights organizations) and customers, many famous brands established their own codes of conduct (such as "code of production movement," "corporate code movement," and "factory code movement") to fulfill their social responsibility.

SER Compliance Strategies

Comply with all regulations and require our suppliers to do the same.

Understand customers’ social and environmental responsibility policies and fulfill customers’ requirements. 
Support customers’ requirements regarding social and environmental responsibility by signing agreements  as required for deemed acceptable SER practices.
Follow regular and specific environmental specifications related to product content as required internally and by customers.
Complete all questionnaires regarding SER performance assessment as required.
Participate in regular on-site audits conducted internally and by customers for sustainable improvement. 
Formulate plans with schedules and procedures in response to the results of SER investigations and audits conducted internally and by customers.

 

SER Compliance Standards  

OHSAS18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system. It helps all kinds of organizations put in place and run demonstrably sound occupational health and safety systems.

 

ISO14001 is a family of standards related to environmental management which helps organizations (a) minimize how their operations (processes etc.) negatively affect the environment (i.e. cause adverse changes to air, water, or land), (b) comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and (c) continually improve in the above.
